Should I tell him how i feel?

I'm friends with the guy. He's nice, I guess. He's cool. i like him. And no I don't have a crush on, he's gay. No offense but I'm really annoyed by how superficial, lazy, stereotypical, apathetic, talkative, and DESPERATE for love he can be. He's a really nice guy for the most part, I know there are things that probably annoy him about me. I honestly feel like he doesn't live up to his potential. I know it's not right to judge but should I tell him all the things that annoy me about him? Or should I wait for him to change then tell him how much he's progressed? I honestly wish he was less shallow. It's pretty irritating.
