Are there any benefits to a monogamous relationship?

For singles, are there really any benefits to being in a long term relationship? Aside from the fairytale of finding a special someone, what reasons are there to keep to only one man or woman. I am not talking about cheating, simply dating many people rather than being tied down to one person. Every couple I have ever encountered, either cheats, fights constantly, lies to eachother, or is simply unhappy. When dating, people have the opportunity to meet new people, see what they are about, have new ual experience, etc. With dating, the first few months are always the best because that is when the couple discovers interesting things in eachother and after the novelty wears off, it's ongoing fights, break-ups etc. It's also more fun to be able to go out and wonder who you may meet and be able to flirt, chat, and socialize without feeling guilty. I am truly looking for honest answers, as I cannot find a single reason to settle down with someone.
